RHATHYMIA (Roussanne) 2020
Rhathymia; “carefree behavior; lightheartedness.” Sometimes, life is hard. What works for me at those times is to keep perspective and not take life too seriously. Most situations are fixable, the others help us learn and grow. This too shall pass. While you are waiting for things to pass or working on the fix, have a great glass of white wine, take some time to enjoy it, and lift your spirits.
RHATHYMIA is 100% Roussanne sourced from the Sugarloaf Vineyard within Washington’s Rattlesnake Hills AVA. It is a blend where ½ of the wine was produced and aged in a stainless steel tank and the other half was aged in neutral oak barrels, providing a clean varietal nature with additional complexity.
Pairs well with pate, lighter roast meats (chicken or pork), fish and shellfish, creamy sauces, spicy flavors, many Vietnamese and Thai dishes, and a vast array of hard and soft cheeses.

Wine Panel - 91 points - Rhathymia refers to being light-hearted and carefree, which is clearly the intent of the winemaker with this wine. However, one might assume then the wine is simple, but in fact it is actually much more complex and interesting for a wine with such a name. Roussanne can be a bit more earthy and mineral driven than most white wines, and this version doesn't disappoint. Expect additional flavors of smashed pear and baked apples, with a note of almond in the distance. Neither light and crisp or heavy and rich, this is nicely balanced somewhere in the middle.
